VACUETTE® VISIO PLUS Blood Collection Needle
The VACUETTE® VISIO PLUS Blood Collection Needle with optical venipuncture control is a great help for phlebotomy personnel. The latest innovation from Greiner Bio-One at last brings vision to blood collection. When venipuncture has been carried out successfully, blood flow is visible in the view window in the transparent plastic hub of the needle. The VISIO PLUS also has advantages for the patient. Movement in the vein during penetration whilst searching for the vein lumen is sometimes painful for the patient: Due to the visible blood flow in the view window, this movement is avoided. The special cut of the needle tip makes penetration of the tissue a lot easier. The new VACUETTE® VISIO PLUS needle thus guarantees pain-free, stress-free venipuncture. DIRTY NEEDLES CAUSE FEAR
Syringes that have not been properly disposed of are a risk for sanitation workers. Sanitation workers face many risks associated with their jobs: sore backs, twisted ankles and pulled muscles. But one risk faced by Paragould sanitation workers could be considered scarier than all others — the possible infection of HIV, hepatitis and other diseases through the improper disposal of hypodermic needles.

LOW INCIDENCE OF NEEDLESTICK INJURIES AMONG STAFF AT NATIONAL PHARMACY CHAIN
Health Vaccinations for flu, tetanus and other common vaccines are increasingly taking place in non-medical settings such as supermarkets and drug stores. This added responsibility for pharmacists increases the risk of needlestick injuries (NSIs), puncture wounds often suffered while preparing or after use of a needle. NSIs can transmit bloodborne pathogens, including hepatitis C and HIV, from an infected patient to the person administering the vaccine.

SHARPSENTINEL WALL CABINET SYSTEM

SharpSentinel™ Wall Cabinet

System

 Your ALT-Text here

The SharpSentinel™ Wall Cabinet System secure sharps containers in a sturdy locked enclosure. SharpSentinel™ wall cabinets are perfect for use in patient rooms, exam rooms, physician and dentist offices, and any other areas where staff supervision is limited. Designed to protect staff from accidental needlesticks, this new system complies with all OSHA, NIOSH, CDC, and JCAHO requirements.

Available in 3 Gallon and 5 Quart sizes, Bemis’s new cabinets provide a more modern look than traditional cabinets. The neutral color blends with any décor and the tinted door obscures contents, yet allows easy visibility of fill level. An inside warning label alerts staff to possible danger and also provides reorder numbers for replacement containers.  These cabinets are made of tough ABS plastic so they’re durable, easy to clean, and stain resistant.  All cabinets, regardless of size, are keyed alike for added convenience. An optional glove box holder that snaps onto the bottom of the container keeps gloves readily available.

HOSPITAL SAYS REPORT'S LINKS ARE NOT TRUE - MINN. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH: IV DIVERSIONS CAUSED PATIENTS' ILLNESS
St. Cloud Hospital disagreed with a Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) report released Tuesday that links the actions of a former nurse with the death of a patient at the facility. The outbreak of blood infections last year at the facility was associated with a health care worker stealing narcotics from intravenous (IV) bags in a surgical ward, according to state investigators.
