ADJUSTING SURGICAL TECHNIQUE REDUCES OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES
Utilizing simple strategies to improve dermatological surgical techniques can reduce occupational exposures, according to a presentation. “Needlesticks are more prevalent than we imagine. In the [US] health care community, there are close to 1 million needlesticks per year,” Joseph F. Sobanko, MD, assistant professor of dermatology, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, told Healio.com. “A needlestick is something that can be very traumatic and sensitive to those who are injured. One of my interests is to try to reduce that.”
