12TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SHARPS INJURY PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH COMING UP IN DECEMBER
December 1st is World's Aids Day where we have an opportunity to look at what we are doing wrong and what we are doing right to prevent the spread of this disease.  Please take the time to mark World Aids Day throughout the whole month as we also commemorate the 12th Annual International Sharps Injury Prevention Awareness Month.  ISIPS will be providing posters and articles all month that can be printed out and used in your facilities.  Check the website often for new posters and presentations. (The presentations are available on computer browser, iPad or Android devices like tablets or phones.)

SAFETY BLOOD COLLECTION/INFUSION SETS
The Safety Blood Collection Set with integrated needle protection is an important contribution to avoiding needlestick injuries. After use, the safety mechanism is activated inside the patient’s vein. To do this, the wings of the set are held in place with the fingers of one hand. SHARPS SAFETY TRAINING THAT REALLY STICKS
The Center for Disease Control notes that 1,000 American healthcare workers suffer sharps injuries every day.  Our internal polling indicates that two-thirds of these professionals are injured despite having received Sharps and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
