Indicator Gloves

The puncture of surgical gloves is fairly commonplace in all major surgical specialties.  The rate of perforation varies close to 12% for dermatologists to almost 44% in gynecological surgeries.  Studies have indicated the presence of blood inside of the surgeons gloves in 38% of these cases - yet the surgeon was only aware of a glove puncture in less than half of those cases.  Modern advancements have created indicator gloves that can be used to warn a clinician that the outer glove has been punctured.  This allows the surgeon to put on a new pair of gloves for his own personal protection.
