Purpose
At the International Sharps Injury Prevention Society (ISIPS), we believe in the potential to significantly reduce the number of needlestick and other sharps injuries each year. Our approach centers on promoting the use of safety-engineered products and services designed to minimize these risks.
We are committed to staying at the forefront of the latest developments in the field, gathering the most current information and sharing it with healthcare workers, infection control managers, and other stakeholders. Our weekly ISIPS newsletters are a key part of this effort, providing updates on sharps injury news, emerging prevention products and technologies, and the regulatory and legislative landscape surrounding sharps injuries.
Our Objectives:
1. Promote Sharps Injury Prevention: We utilize a variety of channels, including the ISIPS website, press releases, and articles in medical journals, to advocate for the prevention of sharps injuries.
2. Communicate the Importance: We reach out to the media, websites, and other outlets to emphasize the significance of sharps injury prevention and the safety benefits of our members’ products and services.
3. Expand Our Network: We actively recruit new members and supporting organizations to strengthen the Society and its mission.
4. Highlight Medical Innovations: We spotlight advancements in medical technologies that reduce needlestick and other sharps injuries, showcasing the progress being made in the field.
5. Disseminate Vital Information: We focus on sharing information about sharps injury news, regulatory and legislative developments affecting healthcare workers, and infection control issues related to hepatitis, HIV, and more.
Through these objectives, ISIPS is dedicated to creating a safer healthcare environment by reducing the risk of needlestick injuries and protecting healthcare workers from the potential hazards of sharps injuries.
