Plastic Capillary Tubes

Capillary tubes have been used for the collection of blood in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, physicians’ offices, blood donation facilities, and blood testing centers. Accidental breakage of these slender, fragile tubes has been reported when the tubes are inserted into putty to be sealed and during centrifugation. By utilizing plastic capillary tubes or glass capillary tubes with a mylar wrap minimizes the risk of exposure to HIV, Hepatitis, and other bloodborne pathogens.

MiniCollect® Capillary Tubes
MiniCollect® capillary tubes are used together with the various collection tubes of the same range. They are moulded from a special plastic to prevent activation of cells. The coating is dependent upon the type of sample being collected, and for this reason capillary tubes are clearly identifiable by the colour-code. When the capillary is inserted into the tube through the unique cross cut cap, blood flows into the tube via the capillary effect.
